This morning’s adventure proved to be by Invitation.
What started as a simple walk around the neighborhood, turned out to be a timely visit to the edges of some local ponds that might not be so readily accessible at another time. The morning temperature, in the 30’s, meant no concern of being swarmed by “no-see-ums”, which have recently emerged, with voracious appetite. The crisp air meant being able to wear additional clothing, which thwarted the clutches of thorny vines, and brush that needed ducking under.
This adventure happened down a slightly less than overgrown “road” that I had been wanting to explore “someday”. This morning’s Invitation was for this someday. It was clear from the start that this invitation was for now, immediately. Someday has arrived and to steer away could well mean that I missed the someday opportunity, or at least for this full adventure.
Pine pollen covered moss creates the effect of visiting a submerged shipwreck.
The chance to visit some simple brush and tree laden shore of some semi hidden pond offers the opportunity, once again, to experience this simple woodland habitat in a way that almost no one will ever experience. I am grateful for the opportunity, the adventure, the Invitation.
Thank you.
