Have you ever noticed how many trees blown over, or knocked down by snow or another tree toppling over them, have not given up on life? The next trip into the woods, pay attention to these trees. Realize the stem that was knocked down early in life, and how it recovered by the new growth turning skyward, bound to keep heading for the light. See the trees, especially some of the evergreens, which have given the task of vertical growth over to the limbs which end up on the upper side of the tree, in it’s prostrate position. Notice the trees who have lost their top, one way or another, only to cast the next whorl or succession of limbs as the new leaders, vying for dominance, bound to keep the tree from an early demise.
Like these trees, we need to continually move in a positive direction, for continued growth and succession in life. Though life’s pitfalls and trials are continually testing us, we must take the example of the tree in rising above these negative energies and moving forward, for the succession of not only ourselves, but that of our families and the experiences of all those we hold near and dear to ourselves.
The tree succeeds because all it knows is to continually head toward the light of the sun, the blue of the sky, no matter the obstacles in it’s way. Like the tree, we need to learn to adapt and keep our focus on rising to the succession of our lives, despite the obstacles and negativity we face.
