Christmas Spirit is about something deeper.
On the surface, we know Christmas as a time for shopping for and giving gifts. We know is as a time for getting together with family and dear friends. This is a season for remembering Christmas’ past. Memories of a childhood full of Christmas mornings, the downtown decorated so special, the decorations around the outside of the house and cars slowly passing to take in our design. Christmas is a time for church services, choirs, singing carols at the “old peoples home”. It’s a season designed around incorporating all aspects of religion, shopping, decorations, music, special holiday movies and everything else anyone cares to remember of Christmas past and present.
Yet, when I pause to feel deep in my heart, it is of something much more. My sense of Christmas Spirit steps way out of the bounds of convention, religion and memory. It is ancient. And, it is all encompassing in terms of the various religions and beliefs. Stepping out in Nature, I am reminded of the ancient traditions honoring the Winter Solstice. Yet even that seems like a box in which to keep the true sense of Christmas Spirit.
I was raised in a Catholic family, in Catholic schools. I have long since known that the spiritualism felt deep within me is much bigger than the parameters of any religion. Again, when I touch on the honoring of the Winter Solstice, I do feel much closer to this sense of Christmas Spirit that resides within my own heart and spirit. Still, it’s even bigger than that.
The “Spirit of Christmas” does not end on December 25. It lives on. It has no beginning or end, though I feel it strongest at the traditional time of this date. Indeed, visions of and feelings of Christmas have often occurred at all times of year, for me. With these visions and feelings are a sense of Home, Connection to something far greater on an energetic level. If, for a moment, I could share the depth and grandeur of this sense of “Christmas” with any one of you, or the many, you could not deny the true spirit of this energy and the blessings this knowledge would bring you.
I invite you all to allow yourselves to feel within you. Take a moment and truly feel where this spirit resides within your person. Let this sense of Spirit be truly known to you.
Love, and Merry Christmas to all.
